Walking to umbrian hamlets
Walk through the soft Umbrian hills, passing olive groves and vineyards with fantastic views and towards charming hamlets. We provide maps and directions so that you can discover the countryside at your own pace. In the afternoon sit at the pool or read a book in the shadow of the big trees in the garden and in the evening enjoy a delicious dinner in our restaurant.
Day One: Arrival at Villa di Monte Solare. Welcome drink. Presentation of the programme and dinner.
Day Two: After breakfast you start directly from the Hotel Villa di Monte Solare. Walking up and down through olive groves, oak woods and vineyards until you reach the Church of S. Maria di Mongiovino (XVI century) with a very important architecture and beautiful frescoes. Short after you reach the fortified castle of Mongiovino on the hill top. Then you reach the “belvedere” of Civitella, a hill with cypresses and pines visible from the Trasimeno Lake with fantastic views all around. Walk from the forest of Civitella to the Hotel crossing a beautiful untouched country side off the beaten tracks. Dinner in the Hotel.
Day Three: After breakfast you start directly from the Hotel Villa di Monte Solare. Walking up and down through olive groves, oak woods and vineyards until you reach the Castle of Montali with stunning views on Lake Trasimeno and the other surrounding valleys. Along the hillcrest you start to descend in direction of Fontignano. After passing the ruin of the castle you reach the village of Fontignano where you can rest or visit the tomb of Il Perugino. And up from here you follow a windy country road through lovely olive groves back to the Villa di Monte Solare. Dinner in the Hotel.
Day Four: Departure after breakfast.
